CHERHub Cultural History of Economies Research Hub

About CHERHub

The Cultural History of Economies Research Hub is a research initiative of Antonia Finnane, Catherine Kovesi and Gideon Reuveni. It provides a meeting point for an interdisciplinary group of scholars who are engaged in, and seeking to orientate and develop, a cultural approach to the study of economies. The working premise for this approach is that the economy is a culturally charged arena and that the coherence of the economy and its ability to function depends on the aptitude of people to interact, to allocate values and norms, and also on their willingness to share representations of these values and norms.

The Culture History of Economies Research Hub aims to:

  1. Provide an institutional framework to accommodate interdisciplinary research dealing with the multifaceted relations between culture and the economy.
  2. Create a national and international network of scholars working in this area of research.
  3. Initiate conferences, symposia, and workshops.
  4. Develop a PhD. programme which will provide students an interdisciplinary framework to pursue a culturized approach to economic matters.
