Select bibliography

This bibliography has been designed to accompany the website Over-Sexed, Over-Paid and Over Here? U.S. Marines in Wartime Melbourne 1943.  It brings together Australian and American historiography of the Pacific War and includes: general articles and books about the Pacific War; the historiography of the U.S. Marine Corps; films and television programs depicting the War; and, oral histories and memoirs of both Australian and American combatants.  It does not provide a comprehensive bibliography of World War II; rather, it has been compiled to provide a guide for students, teachers and exhibition attendees who are interested in learning more about how the war shaped relationships between Australians and Americans.
